Darrel J. Gardner is the Federal Criminal Justice Act Supervising Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington. He is a Director of the Federal Bar Association, and he served as the 2017-2018 president of the Alaska Bar Association. He was a Federal Public Defender from 2012 to 2020.

Darrel J. Gardner has been an attorney since 1983. His primary practice has been the defense of serious, complex, or unusual felony and federal criminal cases, including charges for murder, kidnapping, assault, rape, conspiracy, narcotics trafficking, sex trafficking, Lacey Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act violations, child pornography, white-collar crimes, and computer crimes. Mr. Gardner has defended cases in Anchorage, Palmer, Kenai, Kodiak, Dillingham, St. Paul, Naknek, Seward, King Salmon, Sitka, Petersburg, Ketchikan, Nome, Kotzebue, Bethel, Fairbanks, and Juneau.

Darrel J. Gardner is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Alaska and the Federal District Court for the District of Alaska. He is a founding director and past-president of the Alaska Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and  past-president of the Alaska Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Mr. Gardner is Peer Review Rated “AV Preeminent, Judicial Edition”®, the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards, by Martindale-Hubbell.® Mr. Gardner is a Life Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association.
